Brave New World

To this day, I still don't know what prompted me to read this book. I think I was so into the groove with Audible that I randomly selected a book. However it happened, I'm glad it did because it broadened my worldview and made me more self aware. Brave New World has been named by some as one of the 100 most important pieces of English literature.

Imagine a world where everything is tightly controlled by society — what kind of babies are born, what caste you're assigned to, what you are allowed to read, think etc. Even what you do with your body (including sexually) would be tightly controlled by a deep rooted mass level mind control. It's hard to explain this world, but it's easy to see how society could slip into a condition similar to this. It's an almost "anti-Utopia".

Without giving too much of the plot away, I'll wrap up by saying that the vocal performance by the reader was superb. I still remember him screaming "Strumpet!".
